5 Original Watercolors of Reptiles & Amphibians (Chameleon, Basilisk, Frog or Toad) - Included in this lot: Chameleon [Chamaeleo vulgaris] Common Basilisk or Lizard [Basiliscus mitratus] Frog or Toad [Bombinator igneus, Phryne vulgaris] Frog or Toad [Hyla arborea, Rana esculenta, Rana temporaria] Frog or Toad [Astecodactylus Pipa] Description of the work: This lovely original watercolor was done in Denmark between 1890 and 1893. The manuscript was authored and illustrated by by J. P. Nyborg. The watercolors were originally bound with hand-written titles dated and with his name (photocopy provided). The detailed illustrations were accompanied with notes on the animal and their surroundings (included when possible). Nyborg's manuscript described birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish.
