Garidel's Histoire des plantes - Volume with 100 Hand-colored Botanical Engravings - This beautiful volume with 100 originally hand-colored botanical engravings is Pierre Joseph Garidel's Histoire des plantes qui naissent aux environs d’Aix, et dans plusieurs autres endroits de la Provence . The work was published in Aix-en-Provence by J. David in 1715. This is an early and rare local flora of Provence, France. It also describes wine cultivated in the area (perhaps the earliest detailed description of these grapes and wines). There is a hand-colored engraved frontispiece, engraved head vignette, and 100 hand-colored copper engravings. The plates are numbered erratically, but includes 100 botanical engravings as traditionally issued. The engravings were completed by Honore Blanc.
