Bidspirit auction | A Lot of Five Vintage
A Lot of Five Vintage Ammunition Boxes and Containers - This lot consists of five vintage cardboard containers related to firearms ammunition and automotive repair. The collection includes a Montgomery Ward Field Practice 20-gauge shot shell box for 2 3/4 inch shells with 7/8 oz of number 8 shot. Also present is a Sierra Bullets box for .30 caliber 150-grain Spitzer bullets, manufactured by Sierra Bullets, Inc. in Santa Fe Springs, California. Two vintage rifle cartridge boxes are included that have been repurposed with Sierra handloading labels: one Winchester Power-Point box for .30-30 Winchester cartridges and one Remington Kleanbore box for .30-06 Springfield cartridges. The Winchester box features a label dated 11-16-62 specifying a load of 30 grains of 4895 powder and a 150-grain bullet for a velocity of 2300 feet per second. The Remington box label notes a load for 180-grain boat-tail bullets with 44.5 grains of 3031 powder for 2557 feet per second. The final item is a cylindrical Camel brand Self Vulcanizing Tube Patch container featuring the iconic camel graphic and early 20th-century typography. Key markings include the manufacturer names Montgomery Ward, Sierra Bullets, Winchester, Remington, and Camel. The presence of handwritten labels suggests the cartridge boxes contain non-factory handloaded ammunition. No firearms are included in this lot.
