Bidspirit auction | Hazel Atlas Early White Hen
Hazel Atlas Early White Hen on Nest - This two-piece covered dish is made of opaque white milk glass, a classic form commonly referred to as a hen on nest. The lid is molded into the shape of a nesting hen, featuring detailed feather plumage, a comb, and a beak. The oval-shaped base features a molded basketweave pattern on the exterior. Both the interior of the lid and the base are smooth. There is a small, embossed circular mark on the underside of the base, though the characters within it are not clearly legible. The design, molding style, and material are consistent with mid-20th-century milk glass pieces attributed to the Hazel-Atlas Glass Company.
