  Handwritten Notations on the Shulchan Aruch and Signature of Rav Shlomo Pappenheim, Author of ”Yerios Shlomo”. Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim, with the Taz, Magen Avraham, Be'er Hagolah and Ateres Zekeynim commentaries, Dyhernfurth 5493 [1733]. A number of handwritten notations are written on the sefer's pages. One of them (page 99a) he signed in his full name: Shlomo PP”H. On page 53a, he signed his first name: Shlomo. Rav Shlomo Pappenheim (5500-5574) was one of the greatest Hebrew grammar experts of the previous generations. He added much in the area of dikduk and shorashim (roots of words) in his sefer ”Yerios Shlomo”, 3 volumes. His well-known sefer ”Agadas Arba Kosos” was printed in many editions. Besides for his vast knowledge in Hebrew grammar, he was a talmid chacham and served as dayan in Breslau (Wrocław) his entire life. When he felt his end was near he gave his entire Hebrew grammar library to Rav Wolf Heidenheim and from then until his passing studied Torah and Halacha only- as he wrote in 5568: ”Here, I have become old and cannot go out with the young and strong to gather roses from between the flowerbeds of our dear language...today, when my evening shadows are beginning to show, I am taking revisions for the pathway before me- with Torah learning and the studying of its ways only, since this is all of man.” Shulchan Aruch, Orach Chaim Dyhernfurth 5493 [1733].
