The Gaon of Teplyk's Letter Requesting to Refrain from Participating in Chief Rabbinate Elections. Letter from Rav Shimshon Aharon Polanski, in which he requests not to participate in the elections for the Chief Rabbinate or the Chief Rabbinate Council. The Gaon of Teplyk explains that these elections were purposed to cause problems for Charedi Judaism in Jerusalem, and if one third of the Rabbonim do not participate, then according to the official rules- the elections would not take place at all. He therefore requests from the Rabbis not to participate. The Gaon of Teplyk (5636-5708) was one of the great poskim and morey hora'ah of Jerusalem and Rav of the Beis Yisrael neighborhood. All the gedoley hador went to him for hands-on learning, including: Rav Shlomo Zalman Orbach, Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, Rav Ovadia Yosef, the Shevet Halevi, Rav Yisrael Yaakov Fisher and others.
