Two letters from Rav Tzvi Yehuda Edelstein, Av Beis Din of Szumiaczi and Ramat Hasharon. Regarding His Children's Education and Their Moving to Eretz Yisrael. Szumiaczi 5692 [1932] Rav Tzvi Yehuda Edelstein, Av Beis Din of Szumiaczi and Ramat Hasharon, was the father and Rav Muvhak of Rav Gershon Edelstein Shlita- Rosh Yeshiva of Ponevitz and Rav Yaakov Edelstein, Zatzal, Rav of Ramat Hasharon. In this letter from 5692 he writes to his brother-in-law: 'There is one thing which pains my heart- the winter has passed and my special eldest children have already reached the age of chinuch, Baruch Hashem and at this time this is the greatest pain for me, and only to Hashem do we turn our eyes in hope, that He should help us to raise them as we would like'. His letter is discussing obtaining a permit to make Aliya to Eretz Yisrael. He requests from his brother-in-law to request from Rav Kook, Rav Aharonson and others to assist him obtain this permit. Rav Tzvi Yehuda Edelstein, Av Beis Din of Szumiaczi and Ramat Hasharon (5652-5711) was an outstanding gaon in Torah and a disciple of Rav Refael Shapira of Volozhin and of Rav Baruch Ber. The Steipler attested in the name of his brother-in-law- the Chazon Ish that he is one of the five Rabbonim in Eretz Yisrael of whom one can trust in their Piskei Halacha. His sons, the leaders of the generation- Rav Gershon and Rav Yaakov wrote about his greatness in their introduction to sefer 'Hod Tzvi'. First letter unsigned and seemingly incomplete, 4 pages. Page size: 13x20 cm. Second letter is a blessing for a good year on a postcard from 5696, when he was already the Rav of Ramat Hasharon.
