Letter from Rav Baruch Ber Leibowitz. Kamenitz 5690 [1930] Passionate letter from Rav Baruch Ber Leibowitz, awakening his Jewish brethren to assist, support and uphold his Yeshiva- which was in a state of great poverty and large debt- a situation which could cause the Yeshiva's closing. Rav Baruch Ber Leibowitz (5630-5700) was one of the greatest Torah disseminators in the generation before the holocaust. His lectures were extremely famous in all of Lithuania and Poland and the greatest of students would arrive from all corners of the land to hear his lectures, which were delivered with great enthusiasm and depth; using the examination method of his Rav Muvhak- Rav Chaim Soloveitchik, to which he clung from his youth to the end of his days. Just as his Rav, he was a 'man of truth' who did not practice flattery toward anyone. On the other hand, he was 'soft as a reed' and a compassionate father to all his disciples, caring for all their physical needs. His sefer 'Birkas Shmuel' is one of the important 'Lumdus' sefarim in the yeshiva world. Last 8 lines are in his own handwriting with his signature. The rest is typewritten. 2 pages, typed on the yeshiva's official stationery. A few holes and signs of folding.
