Letter from Rav Yitzchak Waldshein, Menahel Ruchani of the Novardok Yeshivos. Letter from the Mussar giant of Novardok- Rav Yitzchak Elchonon Waldshein to his friend Rav BenTzion Brok, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Beis Yosef-Novardok in Jerusalem. Long letter on large page, written on both sides, covering a variety of topics, including guidance regarding teaching mussar to new students, a request to purchase sefarim, distribution of Novardok pamphlets and parashios of tefillin which were sent to him by the Chazon Ish. The mussar gaon- Rav Yitzchak Waldshein (5654-5703 [1894-1943]) was the talmid muvhak of the Saba MiNovardok and son-in-law of his granddaughter- the daughter of Rav Alter Shmulevitz- who was the son-in-law of the Saba MiNovardok (and the father of Rav Chaim Shmulevitz). He served as Mashgiach and mussar leader in a number of yeshivos in Novardok, and for a period in Yeshivas Baranovich as well. A portion of his writings were printed in Sefer Toras Yitzchak (Bnei Brak 5734)- in which his biography is detailed. His brother-in-law, Rav Chaim Shmulevitz, wrote of him in his letter located at the beginning of Sefer Toras Yitzchak: ”He was one of the greatest mussar and fear of Heaven gedolim of the period before the last war, and was the menahel ruchani in a number of large yeshivos and was known as a great mechadesh (originator) in Toras Hamussar...including lofty matters regarding the pathway of knowledge and mussar as he was taught by his rabbis and especially from ...Rav Yosef Yuzel Horowitz zatzal- the Saba MiNovardok.”
