Extremely uncommon. Manuscript Ohalei Yaakov. Casale - Italy, 18th century.

Miniature manuscript of the Sefer Ohalei Yaakov – Homily regarding Peikdat Sarah and Akeidat Yitzchak by Rabbi Yaakov of Tomaszow.

Rabbi Yaakov b”r Shimon Tomaszow survived the pogroms of 1648-49 in which his wife and three children were murdered. He printed this Ohel Yaakov in Venice with only one of his homilies, in the hope that the sale of the work would enable him to move to Eretz Israel.

The book was printed in Venice in 1662 with only 7 leaves and is extremely uncommon. In this miniature manuscript, the entire work was copied in a neat, Italian hand, including the title page with the border.

Signature of the scribe/copier to the right of the border and on the front flyleaf: בנימין שמשון לבלין יצ"ו בכ"ר שלמה לבלין יצ"ו די קסאלי מונפיראטו יע"א.

Casale- Italy, 18th century.
[8] leaves: 8x11.5 cm.
Antiquated leather binding, chafed and with small holes, fine condition.

Regarding the work and its author, refer to: Avraham Yaari, Mechkirei Sefer, Jerusalem, 1958, p. 16-17; Shalom Lavi, Pinat Yikrat, New York, 1968, p.41-44.
