Rabbi Elyakim Getz HaKohen Schwerin av”d Baia - 1834-1835 Two decisions in Yiddish from a meeting of the community leaders in Baia [Hungary] from 1834-1835, written and signed by Rabbi Elyakim Getz Hakohen Schwerin av”d Baia. Rabbi Elyakim Getz Hakohen Schwerin av”d Baia was born in Schwerin in 1760 and studied by the Torah leaders of his time: Rabbi Yosef of Posen (son-in-law of the Noda B’Yehudah); Maharam Barby of Pressburg; and Rabbi Mordechai Bennet of Nikolsburg. In 1812 he served as av”d in Szabadka and from 1815 av”d in Baia until his passing on the 23rd of Tevet, 1852.
