Menas Chelki. Only edition. Red leather binding Menas Chelki. Commentary on Chumashim Bereishis and Shemos, eulogies and sermons by Rav Refael Meir Chasan, dayan in Izmir. At the conclusion: Sermons by Rav Chaim Yosef Liggi, order of Tehilim auspicious for facilitating cures, tefillos and selichos. All the author's manuscripts were lost in a giant fire beset Izmir in 1841, other than the manuscript of this work (the manuscripts of Rav Chaim Palaji were also lost in this fire). Printing started in 1844, but for some unknown reason, was stopped at leaf 44. It was only completed 45 years later, in 1849. Impressive red leather binding with gilt decorations. Imprinted owner's name: הצעיר יצחק ארדיטי הי”ו בכר רפאל יעקב ז”ל ******* Izmir [1844-1889], only edition . Pagination: [4], 180 leaves. 44 first leaves were printed in 1844 on thick, white paper, the rest of the pages were printed in 1889, on thick brown page. Size: 18 cm. Minimal stains, solitary holes in a number of leaves, binding slightly rubbed. Fine condition. Provenance: Bill Gross collection.
