Riddles and sharp questions were often asked and puzzled over by Gedolei Yisrael of all times and background, becuase they sharpen the mind and they encourage mastery of halachos. This is one of the most famed book of riddles, written by a prominent early achron, Rav Yaakov Landau, author of Ha'Agur. Ha'Agur was printed at the same time (Venice 1546-1547).
