Discovery! Siddur HaRav MiLiadi - Slavuta (1827?) - Shapira Family Press Siddur tefillah for the entire year, per the nusach of the Arizal, by the Alter Rebbe, Rav Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the Baal HaTanya. Slavuta (1827?) - Shapira family press. In the original: 172 leaves. This exemplar is missing 13 leaves. Missing leaves: Title page, 12-16, 46-47, 60, 90-91, 170-172. Varying condition: Some of the leaves are in poor condition, with tears, loss and dark usage marks (primarily to the weekday and Shabbos Shacharis). Otherwise, moderate-fine condition. The Slavuta edition is one of the most prominent editions of the Siddur of the Alter Rebbe. According to Rav Lavut's Sha'ar HaKollel, the Tzemach Tzedek davened from a Slavuta edition siddur and wrote his comments and corrections in it. Bibliographic records mention two Slavuta editions, from 1827 and 1836. The siddur was then reprinted in Czernowitz in 1853. One of the approbations notes that it was printed ”in the format of the siddur printed in Slavuta in 1827.” Comparison between the Czernowitz edition and this siddur clearly indicates that it was this edition that the Czernowitz printers used for their own edition, and according to the reference in their approbation, this siddur was printed in 1827. Note that Kedem Auction House sold a copy of this siddur printed in 1827, however it is slightly different than this copy. Theirs was not the edition that the Czernowitz printers used, and was apparently later than this edition. (The 1836 edition was also printed per the format of the copy sold by Kedem.) Until now, there had been only two known, extremely rare, Slavuta editions of this siddur. This is an additional Slavuta edition that apparently preceded the other two known editions. There is no other known copy of this edition in the world!! ***** Assisted identifying and researching this item: Chizki Sofer
