Chassidut - Chemdat Yisrael by Rabbi Yisrael Nachman Drohobytcher, Disciple of the Maggid of Mezritch - Livorno, 1820 – First Edition Sefer Chemdat Yisrael - A commentary on Megillat Kohelet (including the text), authored by the holy Rabbi Yisrael Nachman of Drohobych, a disciple of the Maggid of Mezritch. The sefer contains Torah insights he heard from great scholars and leading Chassidic figures. For example, on leaf 16a, he cites his teacher, the author of Ginzai Yosef, a disciple of the Maggid of Mezritch. On the last page of the sefer, a commentary attributed to the Vilna Gaon is included. At the end of the sefer, there is a poetic composition entitled Elef Alfin VeElef Betin, consisting of one thousand words beginning with the letter ”Alef” and another thousand beginning with the letter ”Bet.” On the title page, there is a handwritten dedication and the signature of the Kabbalist Rabbi Massoud Amsalem ( HaMaMitz ). Additionally, on leaf 51a, there is a brief handwritten note in his holy script. Rabbi Massoud Amsalem  was a great Kabbalist, one of the sages of Morocco in the 19th century, who devoted himself to the study of Kabbalah. Many glosses on printed Kabbalistic works and manuscripts are attributed to him. The sefer retains its original binding, onto which a printed dedication by the author was affixed. At the end of the sefer, a handwritten index summarizing various topics discussed in the work is included. First Edition – Livorno, 1820. Pagination: [4], 4-62 leaves. Size: 29 cm. Stefansky Chassidut #225. ______ About the Author: The holy Rabbi Yisrael Nachman of Drohobych, born in Stanislawów (Galicia), was named after the Baal Shem Tov, as he himself writes in his sefer Pekudat HaMelech (leaf 19b in the second pagination): ”The words of the renowned holy Rabbi Yisrael Baal Shem Tov of Mezhbizh, whose name is within mine.” His father was one of the disciples of the Baal Shem Tov. On his way to Eretz Yisrael, he met the Chida in Italy, who deeply admired him and learned much from him about the Baal Shem Tov and the Chassidic movement. The Chida mentions him in his commentary Chomat Anach on Shir HaShirim: ”And I heard from the great luminary, Rabbi Yisrael Nachman, may his light shine, in the name of his righteous father, Rabbi Yosef, a disciple of the pious and holy Rabbi Yisrael Baal Shem Tov, of blessed memory.”
