Letter from the talmid of the Hafla'ah and Rav Nosson Adler - Rav Meir Halevi, ”Dayan Medinah, ” from Ichenhausen, 1806. Rav Meir Halevi was the talmid of the Baal Hafla'ah and Rav Nosson Adler of Frankfurt. There are extant manuscripts with his notes on their Torah. A response written to him appears in Shu”t Maharzach. Rav Meir merited the title ”Dayan Medinah” - a prominent, weighty public role. In this role, he served as a dayan in the Beis Din Elyon, which issued decisions regarding controversies between the varied Jewish community in different countries. (Refer to: Pinkas Vaad Daled Aratoz, second edition, section 1, p. 19). The letter was sent to the Fishcach community and discusses matters pertaining to his communal position.
