Soloveitchik Family. Letter from Rebbetzin Miriam Soloveitchik with the signature of her husband, Rav Yisrael Gershon, to their son Rav Moshe Soloveitchik Letter written and signed by Rebbetzin Miriam Soloveitchik, addressed to her son Rav Moshe Soloveitchik, who had fled to Switzerland. Rav Yisrael Gershon Soloveitchik added his signature to the letter. Rav Yisrael Gershon Soloveitchik, the oldest son of Rav Chaim, was born in Volozhin in 1875. He merited to spend time with his grandfather, the Beis HaLevi. He was deeply attached to his father and was a brilliant, diligent talmid chacham, righteous and modest. His wife, Rebbetzin Miriam, was the daughter of Rav Moshe Dovid Alter of Biała, a descendant of the Chiddushei HaRim. She was renowned for her piety and devotion and dedication to running her home. After her father-in-law, Rav Chaim, passed away, she collected money to publish his Chiddushei Rav Chaim HaLevi Al haRambam . Once, when she visited her son in Kamenitz, Rav Baruch Ber told his talmidim to show honor and greet the daughter-in-law of the Rav, Rav Chaim ( Uvdos ViHanhagos LiBeis Brisk, p. 122). Rav Moshe Soloveitchik (1915–1995) was one of the outstanding Gedolim of the previous generation, a grandson of Rav Chaim Soloveitchik. He was a talmid of the Imrei Moshe and Rav Baruch Ber. He fled to Switzerland to escape conscription to the Polish army together with his friend Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman. He spent the rest of his life in Switzerland, teaching Torah and yiras Shamayim.
