Ma’amatz Koach With the Sermon ‘The Decree of Liberty, ’ Venice [1588] * Ma’amatz Koach - Twenty-eight sermons for various occasions, delivered by Rav Moshe Almoshnino of Salonika, author of Tefillah Le’Moshe, between the years 1552-1571. A Sefer of Historical Importance to the Salonikan Community The first sermon was written on the occasion of a historic event in the history of Salonika’s Jewish community - the return of the author from the Sultan in Constantinople with the ”Decree of Liberty, ” exempting the Jews from the heavy taxes that embittered their lives. This event was of such significance for the community members, to the extent that the Rav described it as ”total salvation for all of our people.” Venice [1588] the first available edition (there is no complete copy from the first printing).
