Notations of Rav Avraham Amigo on the Shulchan Aruch. Venice 5392 [1632].

The Gaon Rav Avraham Amigo [Constantinople around year 5370- Jerusalem around 5443] One of the great sages of Jerusalem. He was an outstanding Gaon in Torah, and Gedoley Yisrael from around the world turned to him with their questions. As the Chida attests: 'He was very prominent in the eyes of the Constantinople Rabbonim and they would send him letters and wrote to him with great honor' (Shem Hagedolim). He served as Rav of Edirne and made Aliya to Jerusalem in year 5412 and became a member of the Kabbalist Rav Yaakov Tzemach's Kabbalistic group. These two gedolim expelled Nassan Haazati from Jerusalem with due disgrace and did not believe his so-called "prophecies". The Pri Chaddash refers to Rav Amigo in his sefarim and the Maharam ben Chaviv, author of "Get Pashut" calls him 'the Gadol of our generation' (Ezras Nashim page 61 in Leipzig edition). From his writings, the sefer "Mahara Amigo" was printed. (Machon Ahavas Shalom, Jerusalem 5750).

On pages of sefer are about 15 notations in his holy handwriting. One of them is lengthy. (The handwriting is identical to his handwriting from another source- see photograph in the above sefer.)

Shulchan Aruch, sections Even Haezer and Choshen Mishpat. Venice 5392 [1632] with Rema's commentary. Medium Format: 18 cm. 116: 241 pages, page 242 missing and another [2] unnumbered pages. Very damaged by moth holes. Poor condition.
