Bidspirit auction | A Collection of Chinese Blue

A Collection of Chinese Blue and White and Polychrome Porcelain Wares - A collection of Chinese porcelain comprising underglaze blue and polychrome decorated vessels. The group includes a small blue and white dish featuring a seated figure in a landscape accompanied by columns of cursive calligraphy, executed in a provincial style. Another small blue and white dish is decorated with two phoenixes in flight around a central geometric motif, a design associated with late Ming or early Qing dynasty provincial wares from the Zhangzhou kilns. A polychrome dish is decorated with three Buddhist lions playing with ribboned brocade balls in a palette of underglaze blue and overglaze red, green, and yellow enamels, radiating from a central ruyi-head medallion. The collection also contains a cylindrical brush pot, or bitong, decorated with a continuous underglaze blue landscape scene depicting a pavilion by a lake with stylized rockwork and trees, in the style of 17th-century Transitional or early Qing dynasty wares. No marks are visible on the bases of these items.
