The exterior is decorated in overglaze enamels in the Famille Rose palette, depicting a phoenix with multi-coloured plumage amidst scrolling peony blossoms and various floral sprays. The design is executed in shades of pink, green, turquoise, and iron-red against a white ground. The interior is finished with an undecorated white glaze. The exterior body is marked with the shuangxi or Double Happiness symbol rendered in iron-red, a motif traditionally associated with marriage.
