Large 19th Century Style Brass Cauldron with Forged Iron Swing Handle - A large circular utilitarian vessel constructed from sheet brass with a reinforced rolled rim. The piece is fitted with a heavy hand-wrought iron swing-handle secured by two large rivets on each side. The interior base exhibits concentric circular markings indicative of lathe-finishing or forming over a mandrel. No maker marks or stamps are visible on the interior or exterior surfaces. Traditionally used as a wash boiler, apple butter kettle, or more recently as a fireside log basket.
