George III Oak Eight-Day Longcase Clock by Winstanley of Holywell - An early 19th-century provincial eight-day longcase clock. The square painted dial is signed Winstanley, Holywell and features black Roman numerals for the hours and an outer ring of Arabic numerals for the minutes at five-minute intervals. The corners are decorated with hand-painted floral spandrels, and a semi-circular date aperture with an indicator hand is positioned above the six o'clock mark. The twin-train, weight-driven movement strikes the hours on a bell. The case is constructed from dark-stained oak and features a square hood with turned columns and a trunk door with a shaped top and a brass escutcheon.
