A Pair of Hepplewhite Style Shield-Back Mahogany Stained Armchairs - A pair of shield-back armchairs in the George III Hepplewhite style, featuring open arms and square tapered front legs. The backs are designed with a central pierced splat surmounted by a carved wheatear or Prince of Wales feather motif. The frames are constructed from mahogany-stained hardwood with a polished finish. Modern fasteners are visible on the underside of the seat rails, identifying these as later 20th-century reproductions. The fixed seats are upholstered in a cream textile decorated with a repeating diamond-lattice pattern.
