A Mexican Hand-Painted Mayolica Pottery Table Lamp and a Reticulated Ceramic Object - This lot features a Mexican hand-painted Mayolica pottery table lamp and an accompanying reticulated ceramic object. The lamp is decorated in a style characteristic of Mexican tin-glazed earthenware from Guanajuato, specifically resembling the work of Gorky Gonzalez. The large globular ceramic body is hand-painted with polychrome floral motifs, featuring a prominent dark red rose and a blue bird with long tail feathers amongst green foliage. The neck and reticulated pedestal base are finished with bands of cobalt blue and ochre geometric patterns. It is fitted with a brass-effect socket and a metal harp for supporting a lampshade. The second item is a conical ceramic object, possibly a lamp base or cover, intricately reticulated with scroll and floral patterns throughout. It is fashioned from an unglazed or biscuit-fired light-coloured clay and features a stepped, finial-like top. Both items are unmarked. The lamp is fitted for electricity with a standard UK cord and socket. Auctioneer's Note: All electrical items in this sale are sold for decorative purposes only.
