Large Japanese Satsuma Style Porcelain Jardinière - This large porcelain jardinière, or fishbowl, is decorated in the Satsuma style using overglaze enamels and gilding. The piece dates to the late 19th or early 20th century, corresponding to the late Meiji or Taisho periods. The exterior is divided into panels, including figurative scenes featuring figures in traditional dress within garden and pavilion settings, and geometric panels featuring a repeating floral rosette grid in iron-red, blue, and gold. The panels are separated by vertical bands and borders decorated with raised white enamel moriage dots. The upper rim and interior display complex geometric and floral borders, including honeycomb (shippo) and fret patterns. No maker's marks are visible on the exterior; a small white auction lot sticker is present on the side.
