Bidspirit auction | A Trio of Framed Victorian

A Trio of Framed Victorian Pratt Ware Style Pot Lids - A trio of circular glazed earthenware pot lids featuring polychrome underglaze transfer-printed scenes, characteristic of mid-to-late 19th-century Staffordshire production. One lid depicts a sporting scene titled THE GAME BAG, showing a hunter resting with his dogs and a haul of game. The other two lids illustrate a scene from the Cries of London series titled Primroses - Yellow Primroses, after the works of Francis Wheatley, depicting flower sellers in 18th-century attire. The ceramic plaques are mounted in circular wooden frames; one is finished in a dark ebonised tone, while the other two are set in matching mahogany-coloured frames with a deep profile. The titles of each scene are printed along the edge of the ceramic inserts. These items resemble the polychrome pot lids produced by F. & R. Pratt of Fenton.
