Bidspirit auction | Large Glazed Earthenware Dairy Bowl
Large Glazed Earthenware Dairy Bowl or Pancheon - A large, deep circular bowl of the type traditionally used in dairies, often called a pancheon. It is made of earthenware and features a pale yellow glaze on the interior with a dark brown, manganese-style glaze on the exterior. The vessel has a wide, flared rim with a rounded edge, typical of utilitarian kitchenware from the late 19th to early 20th century. No factory marks or stamps are visible on the interior or exterior surfaces. A small white label with the number 77 is located on the rim. This form is common to both British and French regional pottery traditions of the period.
