A Victorian Style Copper Helmet Coal Scuttle with Brass Handles - An antique helmet-form coal scuttle constructed from hammered sheet copper. The vessel features a wide, flared opening with a rolled rim and sits upon a circular pedestal base. It is fitted with two cast brass handles: a large overhead swing handle and a smaller fixed scrolling handle at the rear. Both handles are secured to the body with decorative brass escutcheons and copper rivets. The piece displays a natural, aged patina with areas of surface oxidation. This type of domestic fireplace accessory was widely produced in the United Kingdom during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. No maker's marks or stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces.
