Bidspirit auction | A Mid-20th Century British Commercial
A Mid-20th Century British Commercial Shopfront Dollhouse - A vintage two-part commercial dollhouse of wood and composite board construction with printed paper facades. The first section consists of a two-storey building with a tan brick-effect facade, featuring a ground-floor shopfront for a General Stores Post Office with period-style window advertisements for Winalot, Rinso, and Oxo. The adjoining second section is a taller three-storey building with a red brick-effect facade, featuring a central architectural plaque for J. Brown Quality Hall. The ground floor of this section includes two large curved bay windows for Drapers and Furnishers, with a middle-floor window marked Cafe. Both buildings are topped with pitched roofs finished in grey tile-patterned paper. The hinged front-opening interior reveals multiple rooms decorated with a variety of floral and geometric wallpapers. Interior features include miniature light fittings and a small black fireplace. A small selection of loose furniture is present, including a wooden chair and several blocks. Several non-original red circular stickers, some bearing the Dole brand logo, are applied to the interior walls.
