Bidspirit auction | George III Oak Hanging Corner

George III Oak Hanging Corner Cupboard - A George III period hanging corner cupboard of provincial English construction, made from solid oak. The single door features a raised-and-fielded central panel, exhibiting prominent medullary rays and quarter-sawn graining that creates a decorative tiger-stripe effect. The door is set within a frame characterised by deep, stepped mouldings to the top and sides and is hung on external hinges. It is fitted with a simple brass keyhole escutcheon and a later-added small circular brass pull knob. The cupboard has a dark, well-patinated finish. A yellow auction house lot sticker with handwritten numbers 624 and 11 is attached to the left-hand moulding.
