Bidspirit auction | A Set of Regency Style
A Set of Regency Style Chinoiserie Porcelain Oval Dishes - A set of porcelain oval dishes featuring a Chinoiserie pattern in the style of Spode or other early 19th-century Staffordshire manufacturers. Each dish is of lobed oval form with a scalloped rim. The central motif depicts a stylized gnarled blue tree with hand-painted polychrome enamel flowers in shades of pink, iron red, orange, and yellow. This central scene is enclosed by a deep blue transfer-printed border consisting of a cell-pattern ground and scrolling foliate details. The rims are decorated with a gilt line. The pattern is highly reminiscent of the Peacock pattern produced during the Regency period. No manufacturer marks are visible on the front surfaces. The items bear temporary auction labels including a white sticker with the numeral 2 and an orange sticker with the numeral 14.
