A Pair of Mid-Century Modern Carved Hardwood Biomorphic Sculptures - A pair of mid-20th century carved hardwood abstract sculptures, executed in a biomorphic, organic style with pierced forms and undulating surfaces. Each piece features rounded protrusions, deep depressions, and irregular, smoothed apertures characteristic of mid-century modern organic abstraction. The sculptures are finished with a smooth polish that highlights the natural, honey-toned grain of the wood. There are no maker marks, signatures, or inscriptions visible on the primary surfaces. Small white adhesive labels with the numeral 4 are applied to the lower sections of both sculptures, and an orange adhesive label with the numeral 16 is present on one sculpture. The forms appear designed for use as either wall-mounted plaques or free-standing decorative objects.
