Victorian English Pierced Brass Tilt Top Kettle Stand - An English late Victorian brass kettle stand, also frequently referred to as a fireplace trivet. The item features a square top plate with intricate pierced openwork decoration in a stylized floral and geometric pattern. This top plate is mounted via a swivel mechanism to a baluster-form stem and a circular, heavily weighted base. The swivel joint allows for the angle of the plate to be adjusted and is secured by a threaded screw. The side of the swivel block is stamped with the identifying mark 1895 PATENT No 702. The piece is of cast and pierced brass construction with machine-cut threads.
