A Set of English Bone China Tea Wares by Queen Anne and Imperial - An English fine bone china tea service featuring a coordinated decoration of transfer-printed yellow roses and green foliage against a white ground. The service is assembled from pieces by two different manufacturers and comprises a globose teapot with a domed lid and scrolling gilded handle and spout, an open sugar bowl, a milk jug with a scrolling gilded handle, seven teacups with scrolling gilded handles, and a collection of saucers and side plates. All pieces are finished with hand-applied gilding to the rims, handles, and foot rings. A portion of the service bears a black printed mark on the base consisting of a laurel wreath encircling the words Finest Bone China and Imperial in a stylized script, with the words Made in England arranged in a semi-circle below. Another portion of the set bears a printed mark on the base with the word Ashley in brown above Queen Anne in stylized black script, followed by Bone China and England. These pieces also exhibit two hand-painted vertical gilt strokes. A white and orange adhesive price label reading 9 9 is affixed to the lid of the teapot.
