A Pair of Late 19th-Century Flow Blue Transfer-Printed Earthenware Vases with Female Portraits - A pair of late 19th-century flow blue transfer-printed earthenware vases. Each vase features a slender ovoid body with a tapering neck, fitted with a polished silver-toned metal rim. The decoration is executed in the flow blue style, where the cobalt blue pigment has intentionally bled slightly into the white glaze during firing. Each vase displays a central oval medallion containing a transfer-printed portrait of a woman in late Victorian style, framed by a ground of densely patterned floral and foliate motifs. An orange adhesive label marked 80 is present on one vase. No maker marks, signatures, or impressed characters are visible on the exterior surfaces.
