Glass Goblet with ”Adolf Hitler” Engraving and Eagle/Swastika Motif - Glass goblet with a conical bowl in deep ruby glass with a clear diamond-cut band and gilt rim, an amber-tinted faceted knop stem, and a ruby-flashed square foot with gilt accents. The bowl is wheel-engraved with a standing eagle above a wreathed swastika and the script inscription ”Adolf Hitler.” This goblet form and diamond-cut/ruby-flash decoration is a well-known 19th–20th century Bohemian (Nový Bor region) glassmaking style still produced today, on which engravers have historically applied a wide variety of subjects to order, including hunting scenes and, in the militaria trade, Third Reich-themed motifs. The quality of this piece is incredible. Comes inside a period box.Ruby-flashed and diamond-cut goblets of this type derive from the long-established Bohemian glassmaking tradition centred on Nový Bor, a region renowned since the 19th century for high-quality cut and engraved glassware produced for both domestic and export markets. Such decorative forms were adapted to commemorate a wide range of subjects on commission, and pieces bearing National Socialist iconography and personal names such as Adolf Hitler's reflect the presentation and commemorative culture of the Third Reich period, when engraved glass and porcelain were commonly produced as gifts, awards, or souvenirs for party officials and events. The eagle-and-wreathed-swastika motif was the standard state emblem of Nazi Germany, appearing on official items, uniforms, and presentation pieces throughout the regime's existence.
