Nazi-Era PropagandaPoster ”Deutschland Erwache!” - National-Sozialistische Studentengruppe (NSDStB) - German Third Reich-Era Propaganda Poster ”Deutschland Erwache!” by Rudolf Hess, 1921 - NSDStB, Ex-Hess Family Estate. This small color-lithographed broadside, titled ”Deutschland erwache!” (”Germany Awake!”) in blackletter script, was produced for the National-Sozialistische Studentengruppe (NSDStB), the Nazi Party's student organization active in the early years of the movement. The design was personally created by Rudolf Hess in 1921 and depicts himself as one of the two flag bearers shown, a paramilitary figure in field-grey uniform beside a worker in blue overalls, expressing the propaganda theme of unity between soldier and laborer beneath a black swastika in a white disc on a red field. A small monogram (”M”) appears in the lower right corner. Notably, this example descends directly from the estate of the Hess family, adding a significant layer of provenance to an already historically important design predating the Nazi seizure of power by over a decade. Measures roughly 8 x 12.
