German Third Reich Kyffhäuser Veterans' Association Flag/Pole Top Finial - A teardrop-shaped pole-top finial in what appears to be white metal, featuring a mobile swastika device set within an oak leaf wreath tied with a ribbon bow, mounted above a screw-threaded base for pole attachment. The piece has a cast and stamped construction with a finish believed to be nickel or chrome-type. Likely used as a standard or flag-pole topper for a Kyffhäuser Veterans' League (Kyffhäuserbund) unit banner. No maker marks are visible in the photos. The Kyffhäuserbund was the umbrella organisation of German veterans' and ex-servicemen's associations, tracing its name to the Kyffhäuser monument commemorating Wilhelm I. Originally a conservative, monarchist-leaning fraternal network for former soldiers, it was brought into line (gleichgeschaltet) after 1933 and incorporated into the Nazi state's system of veterans' organisations, with local chapters parading banners at rallies, memorial services, and Heldengedenktag observances. Such finials topped the ceremonial standards carried by local Kyffhäuser branches, the oak leaf wreath reflecting traditional military commemorative symbolism adapted to incorporate the Nazi-era swastika device.
