German 1922 Reichsbanknote 1000 Mark with Antisemitic Propaganda Overprint - A genuine Weimar-era Reichsbanknote for 1000 Mark, dated Berlin, 15 September 1922, serial number Ca 140079, printed by the Reichsbankdirektorium with the standard eagle seals and signatures. The obverse has been overprinted with a large black propaganda design depicting a caricatured face flanked by a Star of David with a skull, a hammer and sickle, and SS runes, above the printed slogan 'Judentum ist organisiertes Verbrechertum' ('Jewry is organized criminality'). This type of hand-applied hate propaganda stamp on circulating currency was used by antisemitic agitators in Germany during the interwar/early Nazi period.
