German WWII Faithful Service Cross (Treuedienst-Ehrenzeichen), 25 Years Grade - A cross-form award in a silver-toned metal, with arms bearing a raised oak leaf wreath motif and a central raised square panel showing a black-enameled mobile cross on one side. The opposite square panel is inscribed ”Für treue Dienste” (For Faithful Service). This type was issued to civil servants and long-serving state employees for extended years of service under the Third Reich, with the design distinguishing tiers by length of service. The Treuedienst-Ehrenzeichen (Faithful Service Decoration) was instituted by the German government in 1938 to reward long and loyal service among civil servants, officials, and other state employees, continuing a tradition of civil service long-service awards dating back to earlier German states and the Weimar era. It was awarded in different grades corresponding to 25, 40, and 50 years of service, with higher grades rendered in more precious metals to reflect the greater length of tenure. Recipients were typically administrators, teachers, postal workers, and other functionaries within the state apparatus, and the award reflects the bureaucratic culture of the period rather than military service.
