1918 Dated Poster Warning Jewish Poles in Lviv Against Attacks on Army
Poster size notification written in Polish and printed in 1918 warning the Jewish population of Lviv not to attack the Polish authorities and army. The poster reads: "To the Jewish population of the city of Lviv! During the three weeks of fighting and Lviv, a significant part of the Jewish population not only did not maintain neutrality towards the Polish army, but often resisted it with weapons in hand, and also treacherously tried to stop the victorious march of our troops. Cases of shooting our soldiers from an ambush, yawning them with a boiling acrophe, throwing axes on patrols, etc. The headquarters of the Polish army stops the natural fear of the Polish population and the army. All citizens, regardless of religion, were taken under the protection of the law. In this regard, a regulation on courts and summary penalties was issued. Nonetheless, there is a grave duty on Jewish Indians in general to restrain some of their fellow believers, who continue to act as if they wanted to bring about an incalculable catastrophe on Jewish Indians in general. The command of the Polish troops hopes that the Jewish population of Lviv, first of all, in their own interest, will prevent their co-experts from hating Polish governments and that, with correct and loyal behavior, they will enable the authorities and the rest of the population to introduce and maintain a rule based on the law. Lviv, November 23, 1918. City and district headquarters". **********This article is sent from our office in Europe**********
