A Rare Director Michael Curtiz Signed Letter. - (Warner Bros., 1928) A letter signed by prolific director Michael Curtiz. Long before directing classics including ”Casablanca, ” ”White Christmas, ” and Errol Flynn's ”The Adventures of Robin Hood, ” Curtiz sent this letter to effects artist Ralph Hammeras. Curtiz asks Hammeras to talk with him about effects on his upcoming epic ”Noah's Ark.” Also included is a memo from Al Rockett of First National Productions, insisting that Hammeras not consider working on this outside project. The letter with a distinct signature from Curtiz is dated March 13, 1928, and notably is on Warner Bros. stationery touting recent and upcoming films from the Studio, including ”The Jazz Singer, ” the first ”talkie” released in the U.S.A. The 8.5” x 11” signed letter and 5.5” x 8.25” memo display in good condition with browning from age, tape residue, and edge wear. Both correspondences are adhered to a fair-condition page of Hammeras's scrapbook album, with a magazine on the reverse.
