Description: Sitting pagoda or budai, one hand resting on the raised knee. The mouth open, the base also left open. The mantle painted in color and the edges set off in gold. Measurement: Height 9cm. Mark: Without discernible mark. Provenance: Bavarian private collection. Literature: Ausst.-Kat.: Glanz des Barock - Sammlung Ludwig in Bamberg, Bamberg 1995. A seated pagoda of the same posture described and illustrated no.121, p.121f. These figures were crafted as incense pagodas in which the fragrant smoke was then emitted from the mouth and ears..
