Bremen Date: Ca. 1780. Technique: Wooden case with marbled frame. Reverse glass painting in eglomisé technique. Gilt dial with silver-plated chapter ring. Colour-painted figurine automaton. Description: Rectangular case with curved gable end. Antique-style muses in gold on a black background on the glazed pediment and sides. The front plate with florally engraved centre, the ring dial with Roman hours and Arabic minute track. The spandrels with applied and open-worked ornaments. Above, in the arched field, the figure automaton with two dancing couples in a ballroom with a view of a park. The four melodies are engraved on the band above: 'Retreta / Menuet / Ach gott uo herr / Nun dancket alle G', selectable via large hands. Large rectangular movement with verge escapement, three barrels and pear pendulum. Hourly strike on bell and hourly movement on nine bells with four melodies. Repetition. Measurement: 59,5x35x18cm.
