Design for the stage decoration for the Artists' Masked Ball of the Munich Artists' Cooperative at the Hoftheater in 1898. Date: Ca. 1898. Technique: Tempera on card. Measurement: 60 x 96.5cm. After Lenbach was elected president of the Munich Artists' Cooperative in 1896, he was also responsible for organising and directing the 1898 carnival celebrations. Under the motto ”In Arkadien”, he collaborated with architectural painter Joseph Bühlmann to design an elaborate stage set for the Court Theatre, where the celebrations were held with lavish decorations and costumes.
