MAGNIFICENT BRONZE PENDULUM CLOCK LOUIS XVI - MAGNIFICENT BRONZE PENDULUM CLOCK LOUIS XVI. Thonissen. Paris Date: Ca. 1810. Technique: Fire-gilded bronze, Bleu Turquin marble. Description: On a large rectangular plate with small chiselled feet, two fluted columns with high pedestals. These feature fine bronze applications and between them the cylindrical clock case with the triumphant figure of the goddess Athena. The glazed dial features Arabic hour and minute hands as well as small festoons with roses. Round 14-day pendulum movement with thread suspension and half-hour strike on bell. Measurement: 50x40x15.5cm. Mark: On dial inscr. 'Thonissen Paris' (1806-30, Tardy p.613). Enclosed: Pendulum & key. Provenance: Private collection Rhineland .
