LARGE HORIZONTAL TABLE CLOCK - LARGE HORIZONTAL TABLE CLOCK. Benner, Johannes. Augsburg Date: Ca. 1650. Technique: Fire-gilded copper, silver and silver-plated, blued steel, glass, etc. Description: Large, square body on four gyro feet, with large windows on the sides. The top features exquisite engravings of large flowers in the spandrels and leaf decor along the edges. The dial has a silver ring with Roman hours and a slanted raised outer rim with Arabic minutes and Roman quarter hours. In the centre is the alarm disc. Striking and alarm movement on two bells below, spindle winding, fusee and chain, as well as two finely engraved spring barrels. The back plate features finely engraved and pierced decorative elements, hammers and spindle pistons. Measurement: 11x17.5x17.5cm. Mark: On the back plate: ”Johannes Benner Aug” (1620-1659, Loomes p. 61). Provenance: - Chateau de Bourlemont.
