PORCELAIN PLATE 'VUE DE BRIANCON' FROM THE 'SERVICE DES DÉPARTEMENTS' - SÈVRES Title: PORCELAIN PLATE 'VUE DE BRIANCON' FROM THE 'SERVICE DES DÉPARTEMENTS'. Date: 1827. Material: Porcelain, colourful ground colour, polychrome painting, sepia-camaieu- and cameo painting, gold 'staffage', partly etched. Measurement: Ø 23,5 cm. Mark: Manufacturer's stamp with ligated double L painted blue on glaze, underneath 'Sèvres' and year '(18)27', inscr. 'R' in brown, '19 mai 26 G.' in green, liagted 'AB' in gold, incised '26-3' and monogram (illegible). In reserve artist monogram 'JVM'. Description: Flat, concave form. On a ledge with a cream-coloured ground colour, six round medallions containing cameo-like profile portraits of Oronce Finé, Guillaume Farel and François de Bonne, Duke of Lesdiguières, alternating with inscribed medallions. Between them, lush garlands and symbols of the arts and crafts. In the centre, a finely painted Alpine landscape with Cité Vauban in the background, framed by golden foiliage branches on a blue ground with the inscription ‘Vue de Briançon’. On the verso, a list of the famous figures and a description of the attributes and decorative elements on the recto. Literature: - Exhib. cat.
