PORCELAIN PLATE 'CHÂTEAU DE GISORS' FROM THE 'SERVICE DES DÈPARTEMENTS' - SÈVRES Title: PORCELAIN PLATE 'CHÂTEAU DE GISORS' FROM THE 'SERVICE DES DÈPARTEMENTS'. Date: 1827. Material: Porcelain, colourful ground colour, polychrome painting, sepia camaieu and cemeo painting, gold 'staffage', partly etched. Measurement: Ø 23.5 cm. Mark: Manufacturer's stamp painted blue over glaze, with ligated double L, below 'Sèvres' and year '(18)26', inscr. '24a il' and ligated 'FB' in gold, 'R' in brown, '25 9.cre 23(?)G'., incised '23-12' and monogram. In the reserve painter's signature (illeg.). Description: Flat, concave form. On a ledge against a cream-coloured ground colour, six round medallions containing cameo-like profile portraits of Isaac Benserade and Nicolas Poussin, alternating with inscribed medallions. In between, lush garlands and attributes of the arts and crafts. In the centre, a finely painted landscape depicting a view of Gisors Castle with figures, framed by golden foliage on a blue ground colour with the inscription ‘Château de Gisors’.
